ABOUT ME
A Perfectionist on Every Detail
Simply put, I am an authentic, witty, perfectionist with a dog addiction that I am unable to hide. I mention the perfectionist part, as it truly plays a role in me starting this photography business. For as long as I can remember, I have been labeled a perfectionist (insert eye roll). In fact, every chance my Grandmother got, she would remind me of this characteristic; and every single time my eyes would well up with tears, as I desperately tried to convince her and everyone else in the room that I wasn’t. I hated accepting that I was a perfectionist, as I saw it as a visible flaw. Fast forward 20 years, and I now wear the trait with pride. I finally recognize what value it has when I look down at my camera, loaded with hundreds of pictures from a photoshoot, eyeing every single tiny detail in each image. Or when I re-touch and adjust image details, to create a stunning photo that I believe my clients will be so excited to share. I honour and dedicate the name of my photography business to my late Grandma, Maria, for her pinpointing and drawing my awareness to my natural gift.
I was born with an artistic and creative soul
...and I have been longing to reconnect to that part of me. I should mention that I’m also a stellar wife and fun mom! And honestly, these roles bring me the greatest sense of accomplishment and gratitude that I have ever experienced; I feel deeply blessed by the laughter and love that fill my home. Early in my 20s, I stepped away from my career in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, when I became a new mom. I cherish the time that I have been gifted to raise my amazing children; they truly are remarkable little souls. Recently, I have chosen to balance motherhood with my passion for Photography. I hope to teach my young girls that the special skills we gain in life can spark a rewarding career when we encourage and inspire others with joy, kindness, self love & gratitude.
A little more about me.
I am the outdoorsy type. Born in the West Kootenays & raised on Vancouver Island, I grew up surrounded by the immense beauty of British Columbia. I love nature and thrive when I am out in it. This is why I prefer natural light photography and outdoor shoots; the blend of gorgeous landscapes, with the sun's golden hue (or the perfect drape of light from an overcast sky), really illuminates one's beauty.
My deep love of nature, also makes me a bit of an Earth Ranger. No question, my biggest pet peeve in life is waste and materialism. I am inspired by the concept "Collect Memories. Not Things" and in my home, my most valued photographs are displayed around a large sign stating just that.
